Scholarships

We know many low-income people will be unable to afford registration fees for the Conference and/or Intensives. We encourage those who can afford to earmark a donation for scholarships to do so by downloading a sponsorship brochure/form at http://www.forge-forward.org/conference/docs/sponsorship_brochure.pdf or mailing a check to: FORGE, P.O. Box 1272 , Milwaukee , WI 53201 .

At this point, we do not know how many full or partial scholarships will be available. In addition to requesting help from our community members, the Conference organizers have and will continue to approach foundations and businesses to ask for scholarship donations. It is likely, however, that we will be unable to act upon all scholarship requests until well into calendar year 2007. We regret the planning difficulty this presents to those who need financial assistance.

Scholarship requests from those who are contributing significant volunteer assistance to the Conference and Intensives will be given first priority. We therefore encourage scholarship applicants to review the volunteer job descriptions at http://www.forge-forward.org/conference/participate/volunteer_jobs.php to see if any of our needs match your skills and availability. If so, please note in both your correspondence about scholarships and your correspondence about volunteering that you are applying for both. We are happy to discuss creative volunteer ideas.

In addition to noting if you are volunteering for a particular job, all scholarship requests should address the following:

1. Please state why you need a scholarship, and how much you would need in order to attend the Conference and/or Intensive/s.   (If applying for an Intensive scholarship, please indicate which Intensive.)

2. Everyone who attends this Conference is bringing with them a lifetime of experiences and knowledge. What are the special experiences and knowledge you would bring to the FORGE Forward 2007 Conference and Intensives?  

3. If you have plans for using what you learn at the Conference back at home, please briefly describe those plans.  

4. Please tell us how to contact you.   Please keep a copy of what you send to us. We will acknowledge we have received your request (so contact us again if you don’t hear from us within a few weeks) and then we ask you to be patient while we raise and allocate funds.
