Transgender Sexual Violence Project

A huge proportion of transgender individuals are also survivors of sexual violence.  After a large (N = 265) 2004 study of transgender sexual violence survivors, FORGE launched the Transgender Sexual Violence Project (TSVP) to begin bringing resources and hope for healing to the transgender community and the professionals who serve us. 

TSVP serves transgender and SOFFA individuals, both primary and secondary (the loved ones of a survivor, who are also affected by the abuse) survivors.  FORGE TSVP programs are also “reverse inclusion” programs, meaning that we also invite non-trans people to participate and experience a healing space that is simultaneously inclusive.  We particularly invite the participation of male survivors, those who had female perpetrators, and others who are not well-served by the existing sexual assault response system.
